AREAS WE COVER
Builder in Salford
Two miles west, and two housing markets on the same streets: old terraced stock and everything that has been built around it since.
SALFORD
Terraces that were never meant to last this long
A great deal of Salford's housing is late Victorian and Edwardian terracing, built quickly, built close, and built for a way of living that involved neither a fridge freezer nor a second bathroom. Most of it is still standing because the brickwork was decent, and most of the trouble in it is in the things that were cheap at the time: shallow foundations at the back, a rear addition that was bolted on later, and a roof that has been patched more often than it has been replaced.
The common jobs follow from that. Opening the ground floor up, taking the old rear outrigger off and replacing it with something square and insulated, and doing something about a kitchen that was a scullery.
Regeneration next door, and what it does to a quote
Salford has had more new building put into it in twenty years than most boroughs see in fifty, and the practical effect on a domestic job is traffic and access. Streets get closed, parking gets tighter, and a delivery that would be simple somewhere else needs planning.
None of that is a reason not to do the work. It is a reason to agree before the start where material lands and where waste goes, which is a five minute conversation at the quote and a week of nuisance if it is skipped.

HOW WE DO IT
How a job in Salford goes

-
01
Tell us what you want doing
Ring or send the form with a photo. Say where in Salford you are, because access and parking change what a job costs more than people expect.
-
02
A visit to look at it in Salford
We come and see the property, measure up and talk through what you want from the finished job. What the house is built of decides most of the rest.

USEFUL TO KNOW
Salford questions
We are in a terrace with a shared back entry. Does that make an extension harder?
It changes how materials get in and muck gets out, which is labour rather than materials. It is worked out at the quote so it is in the price rather than a surprise in week two.
The rear extension on our house was clearly added later. Is that a problem?
Not automatically, but it does need looking at before anything is priced. Later additions are where shallow foundations and odd roof junctions tend to be, and both are cheaper to find at the quote than halfway through.
Do you work for landlords in Salford?
Yes. Void turnarounds and full refurbishments between tenancies are normal work. Timescales matter more than usual on those, so say up front when the property has to be back in use.
Can you price a job from photographs first?
For a rough idea, often yes, and it saves everyone a trip. Anything structural still needs looking at in person before a real number exists.
